Keith Nielsen
Keith is a member of Gomaren Doctors Creek Landcare group and lives at Goombungee. He was having problems with lippa spreading in the riparian area of a creek. In 2008 funding became available through North East Downs Landcare Group to fence the creek. The fence was realigned to “go with the flow” along the creek and an off stream watering point was established. Now Keith can control grazing the area and this has reduced erosion along the creek. The lippa was sprayed, the spraying did control the lippa and Keith was pleased with the results. The lippa was a real concern as it was spreading right across the riparian zone. Keeping the cattle off the riparian zone helped with the regeneration of native grasses along the creek, the regeneration of native grasses has also helped to reduce the spread of the lippa.
